Benefits at Ferring International PharmaScience Center, IPC

From its origin as a distinctly Scandinavian company, Ferring has developed into a European-based business with operating units in the most important pharmaceutical markets around the world. As a consequence, Ferring is represented in more than 45 countries with Global Headquarters in St. Prex, Switzerland and Global Development Center in Denmark, Copenhagen.

This creates an inspiring, multicultural and tolerant atmosphere at IPC where nearly 420 people from 27 countries work together across cultural and religious boundaries.

…with success!

In the 1990’s the average turnover grew by 20% a year – a stunning growth that continues in the new millennium.

The overall goal for Human Resource Development in IPC is to ensure that all employees are qualified and competent to fulfil their present position and an asset in increasing the growth of Ferring. IPC offers the following benefits:

Remuneration

It is our ambition to offer pay that will enable the organisation to recruit and retain high-quality employees in all positions. In addition to their salary, employees may receive an annual bonus, based on an appraisal of individual performance (cf. Ferring Dialogue) as well as company performance.

Personal development – The Ferring Dialogue

To ensure further development of employees and the company, the “Ferring Dialogue” has been created as a tool for achieving outstanding personal development. The Ferring Dialogue reflects individual performance as evaluated in relation to specific objectives, as well as the manager’s assessment of the employee’s overall achievements and development throughout the year.

State of the art environment

The IPC building was completed in 2002. It is a beautiful twenty-storey high-tech office building designed by the internationally recognised Danish architect, Henning Larsen. The environment is a fully air-conditioned open-plan office equipped with ergonomically designed furniture. In co-operation with Telia, Ferring is able to offer the most advanced and easy-to-use communication system available: The Centrix cellular phone system.

Flexible hours

Most employees have the opportunity of regulating their own working hours; IPC does not have a time registration system.

Holiday

According to the Danish Holiday Act (Ferieloven), all employees are entitled to 5 weeks holiday each year. However, Ferring employees are entitled to 5 extra holiday days each year. Plus, Ferring also offers 2½ additional holiday days annually: half a day on 24 December and half a day on 31 December, the day after Ascension Day and half a day on Constitution Day. All employees are also entitled to additional paid leave on a number of occasions, for example in connection with moving house, examinations, funerals, etc.

The Ferring Philosophy – our code of conduct

It is crucial that all employees are aware of our Ferring Philosophy, our corporate Code of Conduct. It doesn’t tell us what to do but it guides us on how we do things.

All new employees are invited to a special workshop on the Ferring Philosophy.

Professional Training and Development

Ferring wants employees to consider themselves as parts of a learning environment where knowledge sharing and both professional and personal development are part of daily working life.

All new employees are invited to a full Introduction Day. The program introduces new colleagues to the business areas, the products and the values, finishing with a cross-departmental team building exercise.

IPC’s standard training program offered to employees includes courses in computer skills (Microsoft Office package) and language courses.

Individual training and competence development can be arranged and co-ordinated by the HR Department in collaboration with line managers.

IPC’s internal Leadership Training Program offers a cutting-edge training program for managers and IPC’s High Potential Training Program offers training for leaders to be and specialists.

Pension and Insurance

An agreement has been made with the Danish insurance company PFA to arrange a pension scheme for all permanent employees who are at least 25 years old. Ferring International PharmaScience Center pays 12% of the employee’s salary (gross salary, before tax and deductions) into this scheme each month.

Furthermore, IPC offers its employees insurance, covering critical illness, personal accident, life and health (including private hospital cover). Your spouse/partner and your children (under the age of 18) are automatically covered by the insurance and under the same conditions as yourself. Some of the insurance premiums are subject to tax.

Maternity

Ferring pays full salary for 28 weeks; four weeks before due date, plus 24 weeks after birth, provided that IPC in return receives the allowance (dagpenge) from the municipality in which the employee is resident.

10 of the 24 weeks may be taken by either the mother or the father and IPC pays salary in full provided that Ferring International Center in return receives the allowance (dagpenge) from the municipality in which the employee is resident.

Payment during the 10 weeks applies either to the mother or the father; alternatively the weeks can be divided between the mother and father.

Health policy

IPC wants employees to work in a healthy environment. Offices are furnished ergonomically correct and we observe a non-smoking and non-alcoholic working environment. Consumption of alcohol after working hours requires special approval from top management and smoking is only permitted at designated areas in the basement.

At IPC we want employees to take responsibility for there own health. Therefore, full-time employees are entitled to reimbursement of an annual amount of DKK 3,100 covering expenses for various sports activities, namely a membership of a fitness club or one of the following activities: badminton, tennis, squash, swimming, handball, football, volleyball or basketball. This benefit is subject to tax.

Accessibility

Located in the heart of Ørestad, it is very easy and fast to get to IPC, which is practically surrounded by Copenhagen Airport (northern Europe’s main airport), the Metro, trains and highways bound for Sweden and Denmark/Copenhagen – and if coming to IPC by car, a parking space is easy to find.

Personnel restaurant

For a small monthly amount, all employees have the opportunity to eat healthy and high quality food every day – breakfast as well as lunch and even take away dinners for evening meals. Our own chef guarantees delicious and nutritious food.

Each Friday morning all employees are invited for free breakfast and at Friday lunch the in-house farmer’s shop offers all kinds of top-notch delicacies at reasonable prices.

Reception

Among a large variety of business services, IPC Reception offers employees an excellent laundry and dry-cleans service. Prices are very competitive.

To ensure a stimulating social atmosphere, a number of social activities are held every year. Together with colleagues you can enjoy the IPC Art Club, The Gourmet Club, The Ferring Choir, Basketball Team and Football Team, Barbeque Lunch and DHL Relay Race and Family Day in September and a company party in December.
